What is UL 62 ?

UL 62 and UL 67 are two widely recognized standards that are essential for ensuring the safety of various electrical applications. These standards were developed and maintained by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), an independent safety certification organization.

UL 62 is a standard that pertains to flexible cords and cables. It establishes requirements for the design, construction, and performance of different types of flexible cords and cables, including power supply cords, appliance cords, and extension cords. The primary purpose of UL 62 is to ensure the safety of flexible cords and cables used in various electrical applications.

UL 67, on the other hand, is a standard that defines the requirements for panelboards used in electrical power distribution systems. Panelboards are important components in electrical installations as they house circuit breakers, fuses, and other devices that protect circuits from overloads and short circuits. The primary purpose of UL 67 is to ensure safety in electrical power distribution systems.

In order to comply with these standards, manufacturers, designers, and installers must undergo testing and inspections. They must also ensure that their products meet the specific requirements outlined in the respective standards.

By adhering to the guidelines and requirements set forth by UL 62 and UL 67, manufacturers can provide their products with the necessary safety features and ensure that they are used safely in a variety of electrical applications.
